a) Should be able to provide high quality support for the production and non-production Sybase environment
b) Providing incident, Problem and change management support
c) Responsible for handling critical/P1 incidents and Problems
d) Getting involved in RCA discussions, tuning and capacity management related activities
e) Responsible for installing, upgrading and configuring Sybase ASE and Replication servers.
f) Define backup and recovery policies and procedures for Sybase database environment.
g) Onsite-offshore co-ordination, customer co-ordination
h) Communicate with other towers like UNIX, storage and with support vendors.
i) Ability to define the operational procedures and maintain the associated documentations independently for Sybase database tower.
j) Mentoring other team members.
k) Defining service improvement planning and implementation
l) Responsible for DB specific SLA compliance
m) Willingness to work on weekend changes and should be able to provide on call support outside Business hours and during weekend
n) Good knowledge of query tuning and optimization. Good knowledge of sybase remote procedure calls and CIS.
o) Hands on experience in performance tuning at server level.
p) Hands on experience in sybase replication server administration and performance tuning.
q) Good understanding of administrative and modeling tools like DBArtisan, power designer.
r) Well versed with use of Autosys, UNIX and cron jobs.
s) Familiar with service automation tools like HPSM, HP OVO.
t) Hands on experience in UNIX shell and Perl scripting.
u ) Good understanding of ITIL, SaFe and agile frameworks.
